RR Weather · Early public release
Privacy Policy
RR Weather is designed to work without a public account. Most choices you save stay in your browser, while location and weather requests are sent only where needed to provide the app.
Advertising status
RR Weather is not currently serving advertisements or loading Google AdSense advertising code. The site may include a publisher-account verification marker that does not itself display an ad or create an advertising profile.
This policy and the cookie notice will be updated before advertising technology is enabled. Where required, an appropriate consent choice will be presented before advertising storage or personalized ads are used.
Information RR Weather handles
Locations you choose
When you search, click the map, place a pin, or allow browser geolocation, RR Weather processes the search text and/or latitude and longitude needed to return place names, forecasts, alerts, and radar. Precise browser location is requested only after you choose a feature that needs it and your browser grants permission.
Information stored on this device
RR Weather may store the following in browser local storage:
- saved places and the place marked as Home;
- map-layer visibility and opacity settings;
- radar mode, product, and related viewing preferences;
- the display timezone; and
- locally created storm-session data and Creator preferences.
These items are not synced to an RR Weather account. Anyone with access to this browser profile may be able to see them.
Functional cookies
RR Weather uses limited functional cookies for protected account sessions and to remember dismissed notices or tutorials. See the Cookies & Browser Storage page for details.
Operational request data
Cloudflare and any RR Weather origin service may automatically process ordinary network information such as IP address, browser/user agent, requested URL, timestamps, and security events. This is used for delivery, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, caching, and service reliability—not to build advertising profiles.
How information is used
- to resolve a selected location and display relevant weather;
- to select local radar sites and sample radar at a pin;
- to remember settings on the current device;
- to cache public weather data and improve performance; and
- to diagnose failures, secure the service, and prevent abuse.
RR Weather does not sell personal information and does not use location selections for targeted advertising.
Services that may receive requests
RR Weather relies on public weather, mapping, delivery, and geocoding services. Depending on the feature you use, requests may be handled by RR Weather infrastructure and providers including Cloudflare, NOAA/NWS, NOAA/NSSL/CIMSS, Amazon Web Services public datasets, OpenStreetMap/Nominatim, OpenFreeMap/OpenMapTiles, and Esri. Those providers process requests under their own policies and terms.
External links—including Ko-fi, TikTok, YouTube, official NOAA/NWS pages, and map attribution links—are governed by the destination service once opened.
Retention and your choices
Browser-local data remains until you remove it, clear site data, or the browser removes it. The welcome-notice cookie expires after up to one year. Provider, security, cache, and operational logs may be kept for the limited period needed to operate and protect the service.
- Use browser controls to deny or revoke location permission.
- Remove saved places from RR Weather.
- Clear this site’s cookies and local storage in browser settings.
- Avoid entering a precise address and place a general map pin instead.
Children’s privacy
RR Weather is a general-audience weather tool and is not directed to children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children through its optional private-beta accounts.
Changes and contact
This policy may change as the beta gains features. Material changes will be reflected by the effective date above. For privacy questions, contact the operator through the official RR Weather links in the app header, including TikTok or YouTube.
