Using RR Weather

By using RR Weather, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. RR Weather is currently a free, experimental early release and may change, pause, or become unavailable without notice.

Independent and unofficial

RR Weather is independently operated. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official product of NOAA, the National Weather Service, NSSL, CIMSS, FEMA, or any emergency-management agency.

Source names and attribution identify the origin of public data; they do not imply sponsorship or endorsement.

Weather data can be delayed or wrong

Radar, warnings, forecasts, lightning, storm reports, watches, ProbSevere guidance, and derived readouts may be delayed, incomplete, unavailable, mislocated, or inaccurate because of provider outages, scan timing, network conditions, processing, browser limitations, or software defects.

Experimental features—including radar sampling, probability trends, cleaned radar imagery, and other analysis—are guidance only. They do not determine whether a storm is safe, issue a warning, or replace professional meteorological judgment.

Emergency use

• Enable Wireless Emergency Alerts and local warning systems.
• Use weather.gov or another official source.
• Follow evacuation, shelter, and safety instructions from authorities.
• Do not wait for RR Weather to refresh before taking protective action.

Public data and third-party services

RR Weather combines data and services from third parties. Depending on the feature, these may include:

• NOAA/NWS, NSSL, SPC, NESDIS, and CIMSS for public forecasts, alerts, radar, satellite, storm reports, convective outlooks, and ProbSevere guidance;
• AWS Open Data for public NEXRAD datasets;
• OpenStreetMap, Nominatim, OpenFreeMap, and OpenMapTiles for map and place data;
• Esri for imagery where selected; and
• Cloudflare for delivery, security, and hosted data.

Third-party content remains subject to its provider’s terms, notices, attribution, availability, and intellectual-property rights. NOAA material is generally public domain unless otherwise noted. Map attribution shown in the app must remain visible.

Relevant provider notices include the NWS disclaimer, NSSL disclaimer, and OpenStreetMap copyright and license page.

Acceptable use

You may use RR Weather for lawful personal and informational purposes. Do not:

• attack, probe, disrupt, overload, or bypass security or rate limits;
• use automation that harms availability for other users;
• misrepresent RR Weather output as an official warning or government product;
• remove required attribution from redistributed screenshots or output; or
• use the service in a way that violates a data provider’s terms.

Access may be limited or blocked to protect the service and its providers.

No warranty; limitation of responsibility

RR Weather is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted operation. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not responsible for losses, injuries, decisions, missed warnings, device issues, or damages arising from use of—or inability to use—the service or third-party data.

Some jurisdictions do not allow every warranty exclusion or liability limitation, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Privacy, external links, and changes

The Privacy Policy explains what the app stores and processes. External sites have their own policies. These terms may change as the beta develops; the effective date above will be updated when they do.
